Tuface, Omawunmi join Ultimate Commander
Come December 6, Oriental Hotel,
Lagos will thrill guests to the best of wrestling as the world heavyweight
wrestling champion, Osita Offor, also known as De Ultimate Commander, will
defend his title against Bobby Lashley of the United States Of America.
The event, tagged Night of
Legends the event, which will see two Nigerian music superstars, Tuface
Idibia and Omawunmi, performing at intervals during the wrestling extravaganza,
is being packaged by Aghalieaku Entertainment in collaboration with popular
Nigerian showbiz promoter, Tee Mac Itseli. Aside from thrilling wrestling fans
with superlative tag-team bouts, the event also aims at exposing guests coming
from different parts of the globe, especially the United States of America to
Nigerian arts and culture.

Speaking on the fight Thursday,
Innocent Ujah Idibia, better known by his stage name, Tuface Idibia, said, “the
Night of Legends will be a wonderful thing to happen to Nigerians and
the country as a whole because for sometime now, many of the other sports have
been neglected and it is a welcome development that Aghalieaku Entertainment is
reawakening some of them, especially wrestling.
“Wrestling is a very wonderful sport
and countries across the globe are making millions of dollars from it, so it
will be a good thing if Nigeria could emulate these countries to make the money
and enjoy the fun.
We should promote the sport to the
extent that Nigerians would be able to spend their weekends going to the
stadium to Commenting on the collaboration, Tee Mac said the event would
expose Nigeria to the outside world, stressing that it will be likened to the
legendry Mohammed Ali Rumble in the Jungle fight that shook the world.
According to him, the night is going
to be a battle of the legend, as Nigerians are going to experience what has
never happened before in the history of wrestling in the country. “It is going
to be something that has never happened since the famous fight of Mohammed
Ali’s Rumble in the jungle,” he added.
On the global coverage of the event,
he said, “we have got a very special agreement with major television stations
around the world that will transmit the event live. We want to do something
nobody else has done with sports and music.”
Wrestlers expected to feature in the
tag team fight include Marty Wright (The Boogyman), Anthony Mayweather
(Crimson), Cliff Treiber (Domino), Troy Martin (The Franchise Shane Douglas),
Jason Adams, David Njo Matike From Ghana, Jay Batista and Eric Milford.
Others are Sione Vailahi (The Barbarian), Junior Fatu (Rikishi) and Kevin
Sullivan
Commenting in his readiness to
fight, De Ultimate Commander, who will be taking on Bobby Lashley, said,
“everybody knows that I have never lost any fight, so it is going to be a great
motivation for me to have Nigerians watch me fight in the country. I will be
defending my championship belt against Bob Lashley. I will be fighting for
myself, the country and the entire African continent. I really look forward to
seeing the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and the various members of the
National Assembly sit among the audience to encourage and watch me beat Bobby.”
